Submit to Hot Plate

Hot Plate is a quarterly zine printed in black and white. We welcome submissions of new, unpublished work.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions are open through July 31st.
Please carefully read the guidelines below before submitting.

1. Manuscripts should be sent to submissions@hotplatemag.com. People currently incarcerated who cannot submit electronically can mail submissions to: Hot Plate Mag PO Box 380037 Cambridge, MA 02238.
2. In the subject of your emailed submission, PLEASE clearly state the genre of your submission and the title of your submission. All submission subject lines should begin with FICTION, NONFICTION, POETRY, or ART. This formatting is essential to avoid your submission being lost in the vast ocean of spam.
3. Writing: please attach your submission as a .PDF or .docx. Due to space limitations, Hot Plate can only accept work under 3500 words.
4. Art: please include a link to your submission or your online portfolio. Please do NOT attach large files to your email. (Please.)
5. You are encouraged to include a short cover letter and a brief biographical note in your submission.
6. Hot Plate accepts simultaneous submissions. If your work is accepted elsewhere, please immediately notify editor@hotplatemag.com so your submission can be removed from the queue. Please include the word "withdrawal" and the title of your piece in the email.
